8 Reasons to Choose Squarespace for your Website as a Health and Wellness Practitioners
Choosing the right website platform for your wellness business can feel…overwhelming. 🤪
With so many options out there — WordPress, Wix, Shopify, Showit, Squarespace — it’s easy to get stuck in research mode, wondering which one is “best.” You want something that looks beautiful, works smoothly, and feels easy to manage. Because you didn’t become a health coach, nutritionist, or functional medicine practitioner to spend hours Googling how to fix a broken plugin, right?
Most importantly of all, you’re investing the time and money to set your website up — so you want it to be on a platform you’ll be happy with, and supported by, long-term. While also keeping budget in mind. Am I right?
In this blog post, I’m sharing why I recommend Squarespace for my health and wellness practitioner clients, and why I use it myself!
Simple and user friendly, while still looking beautiful.
The most important thing about having a website for your health and wellness business? It’s feeling confident using it. And that’s why I love Squarespace—it’s the simplest platform I’ve ever used, and I’ve played around extensively in Wordpress and Showit. As a drag-and-drop website builder, you can make updates, publish blog posts, and promote an offer…without touching a single line of code.
Speaking of simplicity, Squarespace also offers website hosting, so you can buy, renew, and manage your domain within the website building platform—no need to go searching for your GoDaddy login and having the cognitive load of multiple domains purchased from different places. There’s already enough going on marketing your business, keeping track of your finances, and working with clients—anywhere we can simplify is a bonus.
2. Easy to maintain & update.
Squarespace is a no-code platform, meaning you don’t need technical skills to edit or update your site. Squarespace also recently introduced Saved Sections—a feature I love using for my clients. It means, as a designer, I can save already-designed sections of your site, which you can then add to other/new pages in just a few clicks—keeping every page on your site consistent design-wise, and easier to update.
If you do work with a designer (like me), we may add custom code for extra functionality or styling-but when I do, I always keep it clearly labelled and share videos on what the code does—so it doesn’t feel intimidating.
(And if you want extra support, I offer Website Design Day Intensives to help you add new pages or refresh your layout, without the DIY stress.)
3. Built-in SEO features.
Many wellness practitioners want to be more visible on Google—and the good news is, Squarespace has built-in features to support strong SEO, when set up correctly.
The platform makes it simple to customise page titles and meta descriptions for each page (a key on-page SEO element)
It gives you control over your URL structure so you can create concise, keyword-rich URLs that make sense to both users and search engines.
You can also add image alt-text for accessibility and discoverability
Squarespace includes an integrated blog with categories and tags (content marketing is a key SEO strategy).
Tech-wise, all templates are mobile-responsive (which Google loves), and every site comes with an SSL certificate for secure browsing. This is something that not only builds trust in browsers — have you ever clicked off a site that says security risk? I bet you have! — but also improves your search rankings.
Squarespace auto-generates a sitemap to help search engines crawl your site more efficiently.
You can even manage 301 redirects with ease—ideal if you ever rename or restructure your site without losing your already-earned SEO progress.
Some of this is updated by you (or your marketing/web design/copywriting team) directly in the website — and others are pieces Squarespace just does behind the scenes. Either way, you can relax knowing Squarespace is set up for SEO…and AIO.
4. Built-in marketing tools.
Your website shouldn’t just look nice—it should help grow your business. Squarespace has some great marketing features built in, like:
